Reports of orange colored or fireball-like objects over U.S. skies have been on the increase during the past year, according to incoming reports at both the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and the National UFO Reporting Center (MUFORC).
MUFORC Director Peter Davenport has taken in so many cases recently of this same description that he posted a web site update explaining the situation.
“Over the course of the last year, NUFORC has attempted to bring to the attention of the public the fact that there has been a substantial increase in the number of sightings of unusual ‘fireball-like’ objects,” Davenport stated. “In some cases, the objects appear in small numbers, but they also are reported to occur in clusters of a dozen, or more. The colors reported for these objects are red, orange, yellow, or amber. In some cases, more than one color is reported by the witnesses.
“The reports submitted for sightings on the evening of Saturday, May 19, are a case in point. In particular, we would like to call your attention to the sighting reports of an estimated nine orange objects from both St. Peters, Missouri, located near St. Louis, as well as from Republic, Missouri, located in the southwest corner of Missouri, near Springfield. The events appear to have occurred within perhaps 20-30 minutes of one another, and we have no adequate explanation for them. Also, the reports from Beacon Rock State Park, Washington state, for Saturday, June 2, 012, are illustrative of the phenomenon.
“We provide below a few links to some of the better reports of ‘fireballs’ that we have received in the recent past:
“East Sandwich, May 20, 012 @ 00:00 HRS. – A man reports four yellow lights over Camelopardis; reports from other witnesses.
“Fresno, CA, May 20, 012 @ 20:00 HRS. – A man, and his neighbors, witness two bright orange lights for two minutes.
“Stouffville, Ontario, Canada, May 20, 012 @ 20:38 HRS. – Seven adult witnesses observe multiple red lights in the night sky.
“Moore, OK, May 20, 012 @ 23:30 HRS. – A woman witnesses a yellow-orange circular light in the night sky above her car.
“SKAMANIA, WASHINGTON (BEACON ROCK STATE PARK), JUNE 02, 012 @ 20:30 HRS. – Multiple witnesses to 20 oranges lights in the night sky.
“There are many other similar sighting reports during May and June in our database of cases.” Davenport encourages those who have mad sightings to file a report.
In North Carolina on June 9, 012, two witnesses at Gaston County, had heard about UFO activity in this area and actually set up a stake-out with cameras to record anything anomalous as reported in MUFON Case 39131. The two did not have to wait long.
“As we stood on the cement slab attached to the boat docking area, I caught sight of a flying object coming towards us,” the reporting witness stated. “The object was glowing orange. I called out to Nancy as two more aircraft came over the tree line; orange lights aglow. The first aircraft stayed in front of the other two aircraft which were flying side by side quite close to each other. As my camera was pointing in their direction, I started snapping pictures.”
